Every year West Yorkshire Spinners brings out a fabulous limited edition Christmas yarn and exclusive sock pattern – they always sell like proverbial hotcakes. So we’ve ordered extra for our Christmas Sock Knitting Class. Master with a mini sock: Tutor Judith Schur will guide you through the process of knitting a mini sock. You will be knitting in the round using double-pointed needles, learning the principles of how a sock is constructed and discussing other methods that you can try. We will work the cuff and leg of the sock before moving on to creating a heel before knitting the foot and finishing off by grafting together the toes. Your pick of West Yorkshire Spinners' Festive Yarns: Along with your newly mastered skills, you will take away a 100gram 4 ply ball of the WYS Christmas wool plus a full-size pattern. At the booking stage, choose from West Yorkshire Spinners' Christmas yarns: Holly Berry, Silent Night, Candy Cane and this year's Mulled Wine. You will also take home the pattern for your perfectly formed mini Christmas sock so you can create more – think cute festive bunting and tree decorations! This class is not suitable for beginners. What's included in the price?

You will need to bring along a set of 2.25 or 2.5 mm dpn’s to this workshop. In addition to the 100g special edition West Yorkshire Spinners yarn and pattern, we will provide all the yarn you need in class.

Founded in 1906, we are a family firm with shops in York and Harrogate. We specialise in haberdashery and needlecrafting materials and workshops, with an international reputation for stocking over 10,000+ different button designs. Our classes are held in a beautiful beamed room at the top of our medieval building in York and in the Yorkshire town of Ilkley in a converted Victorian double-fronted shop. They are taught by practicing designers and makers with considerable expertise in (and passion for) their respective crafts, and considerable teaching experience.
