About the Course
Christmas Crafts Weekend at Eastwrey Barton Guest House - Indulge yourself in a relaxing crafty getaway before the hustle and bustle of Christmas!
This residential weekend takes place at Eastwrey Barton Guest House, Lustleigh, on the edge of Dartmoor in Devon– a stunning location in all seasons.
You’ll be able to take part in several craft activities over the weekend, which are likely to include some of the following:
• Japanese temari baubles: This craft is based on a traditional Japanese craft of hand-stitching intricate patterns onto balls wrapped with thread. You’ll learn how to wrap a polystyrene ball with thread, mark out guidelines for stitching and then some decorative filling stitches. No experience necessary – you’ll be able to work at your own pace with lots of help.
• Crocheted stars and snowflakes. If you’re a beginner to crochet, you’ll learn the basics to get you going. If you’ve already some experience, then I’ll show you how to create your own decorations to hang at Christmas.
• Simple origami decorations
• Felt tree decorations
• Hand-stitched Christmas cards
The Craft Workshops will be led by myself, Kathy Rowden. I am a primary school teacher (now part-time) & have had a passion for making things all my life. I am now enjoying more time teaching adults – what a joy! I love seeing people succeed in developing their creative abilities – those ‘Yes, I’ve done it!’ moments.
