Our new course by popular request. The two day chefs knife course is designed for beginners that have no or little experience in metalwork or blacksmithing. The course starts with a quick safety talk and a cup of coffee.
To ensure we all produce a working knife which is a fully useable tool, we fortunate to have a visiting expert Steve Nowacki as a guest tutor who will be leading the class . Steve won the prestigious award of 'best knife' at the '2017 and 2016 knifemakers show'.
Steve usually bring along a selection of the knives he is currently working on so be prepared to be envious !
The material we will be using will be from the 10 range of steels which has a greater carbon content , these are the properties that make it more suitable to being hardened to ensure it keeps a much better edge to the blade.
Starting time is 9.30 and we normally have lunch at our local pub about 12.30 or 1ish. Finish time is usually 4.30-5pm but can overrun slightly sometimes
Class sizes are generally 4-5 attending with 2 to 3 tutors.
We ask for payment at the time of booking to confirm the place on the course.
What's included in the price?
All courses include materials. PPE will be provided but please wear sturdy shoes/boots and old clothes. No Fleeces or Sandals please.
Included in the price is a cooked lunch in a local pub (including a complimentary pint or glass of wine!). Teas, coffee and refreshments are on a constant supply.
If you have any special dietary requirements please let us know in advance and we shall endeavour to meet them.
We start off with a brief health and safety chat to ensure we are all as safe and sound at the end of the day as we were when we started.
