About the Course
Would you like to work with clay? Think you might like to develop ceramics as a hobby? Not sure where to start and need help to find and develop your inspiration? Then this unique course is for you.
With many years of teaching and making behind them Geri and Sue have now developed this new course for those who would like to learn and make and perhaps take there ceramics on to the next level. This is a course for beginners who have the 'fire in their belly" & will give even the most inexperienced the knowledge and skills to be successful. Geri and Sue believe that everyone can be creative and will sensitively guide students through the making processes.
Day 1: Takes students step by step through hand building techniques, covering all the basic skills. Clay types and uses will also be covered as well recycling of clays and slip decoration and glazing.
Day 2: Building on the knowledge from the first day you will be able to experiment further with decoration and slips and will be introduced to the potter's wheel, after a skilful demonstration each student will have a 1:1 tutorial and opportunity for further practice. In Day 2 we will also give students' ideas on developing inspiration, and the keeping of note books. Our aim is for students to leave the course with the knowledge and confidence to develop your own projects and/or have the basic knowledge to work towards setting up your own hobby studio. Experienced tutors will guide you through the whole process, so whether you have worked creatively before, or you are totally new to artistic endeavours we are confident that you will achieve your goals with this course.
And as an added bonus students' have the option to book for a Raku session on the Sunday before the 2 day course commences for an additional cost of £50. Allowing students to experience the wonderful and exiting form of outdoor firing and giving an amazing insight to the process.
