This design course looks at ways of approaching the design process in ceramics. It includes lots of exercises and practical tips for developing your own work and creativity. We explore design theories, visual balance, how to find inspiration, how to develop a design, why you would keep a sketchbook, what (and how) to record in your sketchbook. The majority of the exercises are drawn but we also relate our work closely to ceramic form and undertake some of the exercises in clay. The course is made up of 2 parts, each of which should take you around 4-5 hours to complete. Everything is presented in logical steps that are easy to follow.
