Join best-selling author Cat Weatherill in her four hundred year old cottage for a day of gentle confidence-building and creativity.
If you feel you have lost your way, have no stories to tell or simply don't know where to begin, this is the day for you. Cat, the founder of Pilates for the Pen, will lead you through a series of reflective writing exercises that will spark your imagination, bring fresh insights and raise your self-esteem.
The cottage is so small, there's only room for three students, so it is very relaxed and friendly. There will be tea and cake, a homemade lunch and a stroll around the delightful market town of Alcester. You do not need to have writing experience, simply a desire to express yourself.
Deeply satisfying, fun but focussed, the workshop will especially benefit anyone who is finding it difficult to settle to writing at the moment. Cat is a highly experienced trainer who likes to create a safe, supportive space where people can laugh and learn together. She is extremely good at showing how ideas can be generated. You will go home with endless possible storylines, guaranteed :-)
Please don't worry that there are no reviews... I have run writer's retreats here in the cottage and taught countless classes elsewhere, but this is the first time I have combined the two. It's also the first course I have offered via this site. Good reviews will come, I promise!
Cat Weatherill is a best-selling novelist and a leading performance storyteller. She frequently leads workshops for the Society of Authors, has recently enjoyed a commission from the Royal Shakespeare Company and is currently writing a confidence book for women who want to start motorcycling.

If workshops are about opening new possibilities, then I attended a special one today. Cat shared her expertise and passion and encouraged me to start writing. I will definitely do other workshops with her.
Response from Cat Weatherill:It was a wonderful day, Danielle. Revealing and rewarding. Thank you!
Thank you for an amazing day! It really helped not just with writing poetry but also personally on many levels and I’ll always be grateful for that….I look forward to further opportunities to explore poetry and the story within with Cat…the day was varied, it flowed and at the same time it challenged me and that’s exactly what I needed to crack open my heart and let the words fly free xx
Response from Cat Weatherill:It was such a pleasure to meet you, Manni. Thank you x
Cat was so welcoming.
The writing exercises were both interesting and challenging. There was no time constraints freedom to write and get some excellent advice.
I will definitely be looking out for more opportunities to learn from Cat's experiences.
Response from Cat Weatherill:Thank you, Sharon. I loved the day too :-)
I had a great day in Cat's writing workshop, and did some thought-provoking exercises. She's a mesmerising storyteller, and I hope I was able to absorb some useful tips for drawing people into a story instead of simply recounting an event. Lovely cottage venue, atmospheric and cosy, and some great conversation!
