About the Course
The aim of the course is to make a 3D sculpture from a Cotswold Limestone in two whole days.
The information taught will be in a small take-away booklet. The course begins by covering aspects of health and safety in the workshop. Then each tool and it's use is introduced. Then we look at the different approaches to stone carving and the old carving masters who used them. (e.g. carving direct, profiling).
Each student will then choose a stone of their choice and sketch the image they wish to create. And then carve their image into the stone using one of the mentioned techniques.
The session facilitator is Debs Harrison studied Fine Art and has a diploma in stone masonry. She is a professional sculptor who specialises in stone.
