About the Course

This drawing course at historic Flatford Mill is for the confident amateur, student and professional artist who is open to challenging their practice, trying new techniques and approaches. It explores the graphic potential of line and rhythm, shape and texture that this season and landscape offers. Each day will start with a look at a range of artists from Constable to Bonnard to encourage critical thinking regarding image making and context. Walking and drawing together will be enjoyed. Jevan will encourage on a one-to-one basis throughout the day, and each day will end with a group critique to share works and thoughts from the day. Jevan's teaching approach is simultaneously gentle and rigorous. He is an alumnus of the Royal Drawing School where he received First Prize for his drawings from city farms. His drawing practice ranges from sensitive and energetic studies of plants and people in the landscape to working on long term collaborative drawing projects with communities such as Facing-Recovering with injured soldiers and Alternative Yellow Book with those living with dementia.
