About the Course

Join Matthew Patterson, founder of Urban Candle on one of our exclusive candle making experiences being hosted at Blackfriars Restaurant in the heart of Newcastle upon tyne, followed by a delicious 2-course lunch in their award winning restaurant.

Join us at 11.15am where you'll begin your candle making session, where you'll learn about the art of premium candle making, guided by Matthew Patterson, founder of Urban Candle.

During the course you'll make a variety of products, including a 40 hour signature soy wax candle, alongside one of our beautiful "Maxi Light Candle" gift boxes all of which will be beautifully packaged and ready for you to take away after you've enjoyed your lunch.

You'll be learning about natural soy wax, and our premium quality fragrance oils, which are UK made, non-animal tested and vegan friendly. You'll blend your chosen oils with natural wax to create your very own products.

What's included in the price?

All materials needed are included in the price.

A 2-course lunch is provided after the course and menu choices need to be confirmed 7 days prior to the event, alongside any special dietary requirements.We will email you a copy of the confirmed menu once you have booked your place/s. 2-courses can either be a starter and a main course, or a main course and a dessert.

STARTERS
Roast tomato soup, basil oil
Young goats’ cheese, smoked walnut, roast beetroot, honey dressing
Northumbrian ham terrine, pease pudding, pickles
Smoked mackerel rillettes, pickled cucumber, crispy sourdough
North Sea fishcake, home-made tartare sauce, lemon
Home-made black pudding fritters, poached egg, pickled shallots, broon sauce

MAINS
Pan-fried polenta chips, roast portobello mushroom & corn fricassee
Braised beef Wellington, hanger steak, mushy peas, stout sauce (£3 supplement)
Pan-roasted breast of chicken, smoked bacon, potato gnocchi, peas & ricotta
Poached salmon, charred cucumber, Heritage potatoes, wasabi mousseline sauce
Crispy pork belly, barbecued onions, creamy mash potato
North Sea fish & chips, minted peas, tartar sauce

Drinks

Freshly brewed coffee / tea is provided upon arrival, and water id provided throughout the course. Alcoholic and Soft drinks are not included in the price, and would need to be paid for directly to the restaurant if required.

The candle making experience will be run in a 1st floor room, where there unfortunately is no lift access.

Lunch will be served in the main restaurant, or banqueting hall.
