Calligraphy workshops with Julie Chaney cater to a mix of abilities from absolute beginners to those wishing to improve and each student is personally tutored according to their level.
BEGINNERS will learn the basics of forming beautiful letters using traditional dip pen and ink. Scripts using both pointed pen and broad-edged pen are offered.
IMPROVERS will be encouraged to build on their lettering skills with refinements and variations whilst learning about elements of design and incorporating art techniques in their work.
Children are welcome, recommended 10yrs+.
Each day will be split into two 3-hour sessions, morning and afternoon. This listing is for the MORNING class. [See separate course listings for afternoon sessions or discounted full days]
All classes can be booked individually with no commitment beyond each workshop.
A maximum number of eight places are available per class to provide personal tutoring.
The venue is a light and airy room within Ogilvie Hall with its own kitchen and WC and a lawn area outside. Basic Covid precautions will be observed for the time being. I'll provide more specific details on booking.
Car-parking is available.
Disabled facilities include parking, access ramps and toilets.
Nearest railway station is Manningtree, a short taxi ride away (1.2 miles).
Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 2 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.
Basic calligraphy materials to get you started are included. Extra supplies will be available to buy. You'll need to bring a few items with you such as pencil, ruler, etc , but a list will be provided on booking.
