I enjoyed an excellent day’s tuition from Gaynor. She is a highly skilled teacher and demonstrator which made learning calligraphy from scratch very accessible for me as a beginner.

I was really keen to reignite my passion for calligraphy having had a few lessons some years ago but then not been able to find any evening classes etc near me. I’m so pleased I finally found Gaynor - I now attend the day sessions about once a month. The sessions are in small groups and Gaynor tailors her teaching to whatever script or project you want to tackle. I’ve been able to start working towards the CLAS National Diploma. Because the sessions are so bespoke (not to mention friendly and welcoming!) I think they represent excellent value for money, and Gaynor’s skill and expertise are certainly second to none. I have progressed so much over the last year under her tutelage. I would highly recommend!

We started this as a wedding project but have carried it on because we enjoy it so much. From day one we learnt the basics of calligraphy and were taught to write uncial script and produce a finished piece. Gaynor is a great teacher and extremely welcoming providing drinks and biscuits. We thoroughly enjoy our sessions and seeing our progress. We can't recommend Gaynor highly enough.

A very reasonably priced day with an excellent calligrapher and tutor. Gaynor has a talent for moving you along at your own individual pace and most pupils achieve a piece of writing by the end of the day.

I have been studying with Gaynor for several years and long may it continue. She is both an excellent calligrapher and tutor, offering guidance and support whilst encouraging her pupils to develop their own style.

Unlike many experts, Gaynor does not have a rigid and inflexible approach to teaching her art. She manages a class of all abilities and interests, giving sufficient attention to each. It always amazes me how she manages to switch instantly between scripts for individual demonstrations. I came to her after a frustrating series of lessons elsewhere in which I was never allowed to progress beyond two pencils strapped together. Gaynor quickly had me practising with a dip pen in several different scripts and does not insist on perfection before moving on to something new. She is always happy to go with ones interests, rather than teaching to a strict order of attainment, which is very refreshing.
