About the Course
Join calligrapher & lettering artist Julie Chaney for a full-day calligraphy class in the riverside village of Mistley.
Immerse yourself in the art of beautiful writing - for pleasure, relaxation or study. After a short introduction to a variety of calligraphic styles, we will begin with the basics of forming elegant letters using pencil, dip pen and ink. There will be demonstrations of lettering and an array of tools and techniques used will also be explored and experimented with.
Beginners and Improvers are both welcome. A small group (max 7) means you'll enjoy personal and close tuition. This is part of a series of Wednesday classes, two per month, however they can be booked individually with no commitment beyond each workshop. For those who attend regularly, individual guidance will be given to uncover the potential to expand your own ideas with a view to creating a unique piece of work.
Basic calligraphy materials are included and extra supplies will be available to buy. You'll need to bring a few basic items such as pencil, ruler, etc., but a list will be provided on booking.
The venue is a well-lit and peaceful workroom within the Mistley Quay Workshops with a beautiful view out over the River Stour.
There'll be plenty of tea, coffee and biscuits. For lunch, please bring your own or food is available from the cafe next door.
Unrestricted parking nearby. Nearest railway station is Mistley, 2-3 minutes walk away.
Please note : Access to the building is via a staircase.
If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above or telephone us. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.
This is my second block booking with Julie and I thoroughly enjoy all classes we have. On every class I seem to involve and won't be hesitating to book again on to the next course.
