In this workshop, tutor Amy Hunter will teach you how to create unique, hand-made polymer clay buttons. You will learn how to condition the clay so that is soft and pliable enough to work with, then you will learn different techniques for colour mixing and embossing to add texture. In class, your clay will be baked so that your buttons are ready to use (and even washable). If you would like to colour match your set of buttons to a knitting, sewing or crochet project, bring swatches or references with you. If you’d just like to let your imagination run wild or be inspired by Spring time, Amy is there to help you give shape to your ideas. Amy studied art and design at university and is a secondary school art teacher. She sells her buttons and jewellery through her Etsy shop under the name of Make Harrogate. Terms and conditions apply. Please see the Duttons for Buttons website for details.

Founded in 1906, we are a family firm with shops in York and Harrogate. We specialise in haberdashery and needlecrafting materials and workshops, with an international reputation for stocking over 10,000+ different button designs. Our classes are held in a beautiful beamed room at the top of our medieval building in York and in the Yorkshire town of Ilkley in a converted Victorian double-fronted shop. They are taught by practicing designers and makers with considerable expertise in (and passion for) their respective crafts, and considerable teaching experience.
