Class format and activities
Day 1: Students will be introduced to using wax and will start to make individual wax sculptures. Day 2:There will be a demonstration of running up a wax (The method by which the bronze is introduced to the mould after the wax has been burnt out). Observe and learn about the creation of investment moulds (A bronze mould) which will then be loaded into the kiln and fired to burn out the wax in readiness for bronze pouring.
Day 3: You will observe the bronze pour: which involves melting the bronze and pouring it into the now burnt-out moulds. Day 4 and 5: The investment moulds are opened and final finishing and patination of your bronze cast works. Tutor and technician guidance, tuition and demonstration to support.
