Have you ever received a bouquet of flowers and wished you could make them last a little longer? Come and create a beautiful plaque from a bunch of flowers or other plant material which captures all the detail and form of delicate petals and stems.
Colour can be added to highlight the plant forms and add depth to the piece. Learn about making impressions into clay and about using plaster to make a simple cast and take home a gorgeous finished plaster plaque to be hung on the wall. All materials are provided and no experience is needed to enjoy this workshop and come away with a beautiful and lasting piece.

Emily Joy is a sculptor and installation artist based at Stroud Valleys Artspace. For the last 8 years she has taught adults’ ceramic sculpture classes, children’s pottery classes and master-classes in mould-making, casting and paperclay.
Emily has a first class BA Hons ceramics and painting and a fine art sculpture Ma, providing her students with a broad range of practical skills, materials experience and theoretical knowledge. She has a wide range of teaching experience including adults, children, adults with special needs and other barriers to learning. Emily strives to inspire her adult students to push themselves both materially and also conceptually, she encourages debate and critical discourse throughout the courses and workshops.
A founder member of the artist group Quercus, Emily was the 2008 winner of the Darbyshire Award and was also shortlisted for the 2012 Aesthetica Prize.
You can turn any of our courses into a short break by staying in our on site accommodation. When you book a residential package you will get discounted accommodation in our stylish boutique hostel located in the centre of Cirencester in the Cotswolds right next door to New Brewery Arts. Our former 19th Century Cotswold stone brewery barrel store has been beautifully transformed into 21st century accommodation, light and well-appointed with a craftsman’s attention to detail. We offer guest accommodation for up to 43 people over two floors in 14 rooms, with a choice of single, bunk, family and double bedrooms, 12 with en-suite facilities. A ground floor disabled-friendly room is also available. The hostel provides a stylish communal dining and relaxation area, self-catering kitchen, laundry facilities and lockers for your bike. As with all our courses and workshops these are led by experienced tutors and as you will be part of a small group there is plenty of time to focus on you.
