About the Course
Do you fancy a creative day out at our studio, based at the idyllic setting of Riverside Organic farm? We are situated in a very old barn, on a beautiful working organic farm in the middle of Cheshire countryside. Situated approx 8 miles from J18 of the M6.
Make your own botanical plaster art work. This is a really great course for beginners and those with some experience and of plaster casting/working with clay. We look to provide a relaxing environment for a great day out and an intimate session in our small rural studio.
This approximately 3 hour / half day course is led by Julie Mathews and Jessica Jones.
Julie has a BA Hons in Applied Arts, specialising in Glass but with a passion for ceramics. Jess specialises in mould making and the use of plaster, resin and jesmonite and has a passion for nature and wildlife.
Your day will begin with an arrival tea or coffee from the organic cafe on site and an introduction of Health & Safety. We will then share our extensive knowledge of the materials we will use throughout the day and the techniques we use to achieve the final piece of unique art.
Using botanical items we will make an imprint into clay and then create a cast of this in plaster. We can provide a selection of botanical items, or if you have a special item you would like to cast, such as a flower from a bridal bouquet or just a plant you love, feel free to bring that along.
While the plaster sets we will break for a piece of cake and a cuppa from the cafe.
Then we will practice some painting techniques to use on our artwork before finishing the final piece.
This session is suitable for beginners and improvers but is for adults only.
