About the Course
For those people who would like to learn something about working in ceramics and the fascinating and versatile material of clay but have very little time or are on a budget. These sessions make pottery and ceramics accessible.
You can spend an hour and half working on a specific project which has been designed to be achievable in this time. You may choose from pinch pottery with different clays, coiling in a former, slab building a box or throwing on the wheel. Small classes (6-8) with plenty of assistance from expert tutors.
Do one workshop or build up with all 4. No large outlay, no tie in to long weekly classes, pay for the workshop you want to do as a one off or add more workshops to build up your expertise when you are ready.
Young people may use these workshops as part of Bronze part A, Silver Unit 1 A, and Gold Unit 1A, Arts Award with Trinity College. Want to know more about this National qualification in the Arts? do call and we will be happy to tell you all about the scheme.
If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above or telephone us. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.
What's included in the price?
All materials are included in the price of the workshop. Work will be glazed and fired and returned to you when ready. Don't live nearby? We are happy to make arrangement to send your work to you at a small additional charge.
Hugely enjoyable ! Something I'd always wanted to try and was bought as a gift for me. Sue and Geri are really friendly and knowledgeable have helped me try new techniques and encouraged and inspired me. I've made lots of different pieces which are functional and it makes me proud to use them. I love coming to Fired Thoughts, always fun and the time flies by!

I have been coming to Fired Thoughts for over a year. I have learnt alot from Geri and Sue's help and expertise.
I came with my mum, at first as she has always been keen to have a go at sculpture and ceramics. I thought it would be fun to have a go together.
Geri and Sue really helped my mum, to come out of her shell and she created some really lovely pieces. Which she's very proud of!
I would definitely recommend to people to come to Fired Thoughts, if they wanted to experiment with ceramics. As Geri and Sue are lovely ,very encouraging and knowledgeable. They make you feel welcome and it's lovely relaxed atmosphere. The main thing is to have some fun with clay.

I was a complete beginner and my daughter thought this would make a great Christmas gift for me. She was so right. Both Sue and Geri create a thoroughly enjoyable experience in a relaxed atmosphere, whilst sharing their vast knowledge and skills with patience (and a sense of humour). I’m hooked - wish I’d discovered Fired Thoughts years ago.

Very friendly and knowledgeable for all levels. Very patient with me as a complete beginner. Also really flexible drop in / out I work shifts and can't always make same times every week. They start with basics and encourage you to try new things and techniques.
