About the Course
This workshop is taught by Lisa Reddings, Textile Designer, BA (Hons) Woven and Printed. With 20 years experience working in the fashion industry. Lisa now has a textile design business focused on hand-dyed and hand-crafted textiles.
This workshop will be focused on making patterns using the ancient Japanese technique known as Shibori, followed by dyeing with indigo. Techniques taught will include folding, clamping, twisting and tying fabric to create a resist once the fabric enters the dye pot. This workshop is a fun introduction to indigo and shibori pattern making.
Anyone can do it and achieve beautiful and usually surprising results. Dyeing with indigo is a magical process that must be experienced.
You will meet like minded people , have a laugh and take home a beautiful unique indigo pattern made by you.

I thoroughly enjoyed my day with Lisa. I had a friend visiting at the time and suggested that we attend Lisa's course and we were so pleased we had. Lisa is a great teacher, very encouraging, informative and generous with her materials and time.
Would have no hesitation recommending.

A really fun way to spend an afternoon, Lisa is a great teacher and her enthusiasm is infectious. I love my scarf and pillow cases and have already ordered the kit that she recommended so that I can continue my experiments with shibori techniques. I really hope that Lisa starts the “Indigo Club” as I would love to go along to share ideas and have more fun.

I had a brilliant afternoon learning all about indigo dye, it’s history and how to use it, and Japanese Shibori pattern dyeing.
Lisa from Indigowares is a very enthusiastic teacher and we were encouraged to bring natural fabric such as bull denim, calico, cotton, linen or silk and it was amazing to see how it was transformed by dipping into the vat of indigo dye.
Lisa would like to start an ‘Indigo club’ and I will definitely be going if she does.
