About the Course
Duration: 1 Day Course
(24th Feb or 24th March)
Time: 10am – 4pm (6hrs)
This course which will be run by experienced Potter Matthew Dimbleby is an opportunity to have a one to one experience for those who would love to learn how to throw with clay. This day course which takes place at the LoveClay workshop facility at Valentine Clays HQ in Fenton will give you knowledge of how to:
• Prepare clay (wedging and kneading)
• Centre the clay
• Throw cylinders with the aim of producing forms of even thickness
• Developing basic forms
• Wiring pots off the wheel
At the end of the course you will then have the choice of up to 2 pots that will be glazed and fired.
There are a maximum of 7 places available with each student having their own wheel for use throughout the day. Basic materials, tools and lunch will be provided.
The courses will be run by trained potter and teacher Mathew Dimbleby who has worked in ceramics and the arts for over 30 years. This has included manufacturing, teaching, Education Management and lecturing. Mathew holds a degree in Design and Ceramics and a PGCE teaching qualification and currently runs Dimbleby Ceramics.
