About the Course
Have you ever wondered how ancient artisans made everting we needed from materials collected from woodlands or dug from the soil? Well, here’s your chance! Greenwood in Action is a unique event at the art studio, Designer Makers 21, that intends to inspire and educate young and old about the Greenwood, ancient ways of making and ancient tools. There will be greenwood workers, toolmakers, natural dye making, hurdle making [TBC] and much much more! Entry is free and our wares will be for sale, but we will also provide free talks from craftspeople and free demonstrations.
As part of the event, we are organising pre-booked mini spoon-carving workshops for up to six people (14 year old and up) for two hours. Three sessions will be run during the day at 10:00-12:00, 12:30-14:30 and 15:00-17:00 by spoon carvers, Nick Gosman and Fay Jones. Each session will include:
* A brief introduction to the Greenwood and trees for carving
* Knife and axe safety
* Everyone Then receives their pre-cutout spoon blank
* Carve your blank into a spoon using the axe, a straight knife and a crook knife
* Take your spoon home as a memento of your day!
Please message Nick Gosman through Craft Courses and let us know which session you want and how many places you want to reserve. Payment must be made at least one week before the event to confirm your place(s).
