About the Course
Complete beginners workshop - Learn to sew - new to sewing - get to know your sewing machine.
If you have ever been terrified of using a sewing machine, this is the workshop for you, its fun and friendly and by no means scary!
You can bring your own machine and manual if you have one (plus spare needle and bobbin), or if not I have one you can use.
- look at the different parts of the machine, and how they are used
- change the needle
- wind a bobbin
- thread the machine and needle
- sew straight lines
- sew zig zag lines
- reverse stitch
- turn corners
- top stitch
- (button hole if you have the attachment with your machine)
- make some decorative coasters to take home
This workshop will help you get to know your machine and be more confident to try other projects, maybe come to my other beginners workshops:
- Make a tote bag,
- Make an envelope cushion, with covered button
- Zipped and lined bags,
- Pyjama bottoms/shorts
I have over 35 years experience sewing, from learning to sew as a child making dolls clothes, progressing to dressmaking, home furnishings (curtains and blinds), accessories, always to professional standards. I design and make my own patterns, and work as a freelance tutor. I hope you will come along and enjoy my workshops, where I am happy to pass on lots of information and tips.
