Description

In time to make and wear to all those long-awaited summer celebrations, I am delighted to present a beginner's flower-making millinery kit and online live class. The kit includes all the materials you will need to create a contemporary headpiece featuring a multi-petaled rose, finished with a froth of ivory veiling and attached to a pre-made buntal beret/button (included). Alternatively, the rose could also be worn as a lapel brooch.

When completing your purchase please include a note of your preferred colour choice by selecting from the following designs - The Scottish Saltire - blue and ivory; Roses are Red, the English rose: red and ivory; Valleys are Green aka the Welsh dragon: red, green, and ivory; and for my home county of Northumberland: flame and ivory. Custom colours are also available, please just get in touch. The class will run regularly, bookings will close 7 days before the class date to allow time for delivery of the kits. The maximum size of the class is 6 across all colourways/listings, when the class is full I will add another date. Whilst the kit is currently only available in the UK if you would like me to send it overseas please get in touch and I will quote you for delivery to your chosen location.

There are also lots of alternative colour options for the flower, available too, please get in touch if you would like to commission a kit in an alternative colourway.

You may be interested to know a little about the creation of the kit - in the Spring of 2021 I was commissioned by the UK Crafts Council to design and deliver a millinery masterclass to the patrons of The Saint Georges Society of New York. The SGSNY is the oldest charity in the USA and my millinery class formed part of their 250th-year anniversary celebrations. Inspired by one of the Society's symbols, the red rose of Lancashire and England, the beginner's millinery kit and online course that I created for SGSNK has been extremely popular. I have now designed headpieces with flowers in the regional colours of the UK, including the Valley Green colourway created especially for my friends at CraftCourses.com who are based in Pembrokeshire

Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 2 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.

Very well presented kit with all materials and tools needed.

Despite being French so English is my second language the instructions were clear and detailed, easy to follow.

I'm very pleased with the end result and it was enjoyable to make it too!

Response from Margaret Woodliff Wright Millinery:

Hello Laurence
Thank you so much for your lovely review. I am very pleased that you enjoyed the kit so much, and hope that you will enjoy wearing your brooch through the seasons.
All best wishes
Margaret

I chose my colour combination and it is perfect for my jacket. I received this kit and completed it in less than an hour. I am so pleased with my brooch. Excellent product. The purchase form needs to be updated so that you can put your colour choices on the form. This would eliminate the emails that are required to sort this out. The seller is super efficient and wants to you to get your product ASAP, but I don't read my email daily, so any delay in getting your product is caused by this.

Response from Margaret Woodliff Wright Millinery:

Hello Bea
Thank you very much for your review, I am so pleased you have enjoyed your kit, both making your tartan flower and wearing it!
I know that the brilliant admin team at CraftCourses are working hard to respond to all the challenges that the current situation has thrust upon us all, and I’m sure that they will look at updating the purchase form to enhance the site’s functionality if at all possible.
In the meantime I thought you would like to know that I am continuing to develop new concepts for hobby millinery kits so you can make your own small headpieces for when those weddings and special events finally get the go ahead. I will be listing these kits in due course on my Craft Courses page.
Thanks again for your review
Margaret
