A one day beginners class is 6 hours with an hour for lunch. We cover setting up a torch, health and safety and technical information about glass relevant to lampwork. We move on to melting glass in the flame to see how it behaves with a couple of simple exercises - making some simple drops, pulling some "stringers" (thinner rods of glass) then we make some simple beads. We then look at making other bead shapes, surface decoration such as dots, twisties or frit, or making big hole beads tailoring your day to what you are interested in learning.
Refreshments and a light lunch are included as are all tools and materials and you get a bound set of notes relating to the things that we have covered, including information on setting up your own space, suppliers etc and again all the class beads, yours and mine, are yours to keep.
The class is a 1-2-1 class with Becky Haywood of Chameleon Designs. She has been working with glass for 13 years now and as well as winning a number of prizes for her work in the UK her beads have been in exhibitions around the world. All materials will be included and there is a plentiful supply of tea, coffee, cake and biscuits.
