About the Course

On this seven week course, run by Chris, we will explore various different clay making processes; slab building, press moulding, tiles and wheel throwing. The focus will be on the functional pot for the kitchen and table. Suitable for complete beginners, or those with a little prior experience who would like to focus more on their own projects.
We will also cover surface decoration and finishing techniques.

Like all our courses, class sizes are small so that everyone gets enough individual support and advice. We will go through different practical demonstrations each week, and then you will be able to work on projects of your own design. All tools and materials provided.

£215 per person, inclusive of materials, preparation and firings. To book please visit our website- courses are booked through our Eventbrite page.

Courses are held at Cyan Clayworks, part of a studio complex in central Edinburgh. Spacious and light, the studio is fully equipped for making and firing ceramics. Cyan Clayworks is a not-for-profit organisation, run by resident ceramicists Fiona Thompson and Chris Donnelly, who specialise individually in wheel throwing, handbuilding and surface printing. There are regular courses running throughout the year, with evening courses at regular intervals.

If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above or telephone us. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.

What's included in the price?

All materials, use of tools, and firings. Tea and coffee. Bring an apron if you would like to.
