About the Course
Our beginner course will offer a brief introduction to the history of candle-making, an understanding of the types of waxes available and their advantages and disadvantages, how size and types of candle wick are also important, burn times and so on.
We will then move on to the equipment necessary for the hobbyist. All the techniques will be explained and demonstrated, and common mistakes ironed out.
Our hands-on course is designed with fun in mind for the whole family to enjoy. You will have an opportunity to make your own candles - from simple tea lights to pillar candles and scented jar candles - that you can take home with you.
Our objective is to offer a fun and informative course with small classes; a maximum of 7 people.
If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above or telephone us. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.

Had the most enjoyable morning candle making yesterday, my mum in law and I were incredibly lucky as there were some cancellations so we actually ended up having a one to one workshop.
It was so informative but super fun too, loved learning about all the different techniques and ‘hand dipping’ was a highlight for sure.
Would recommend the class to anyone and everyone, great to learn a new skill!

We had the most amazing time with Simon, who was so knowledgeable and a great tutor - we all thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would highly recommend it - super excited that we came away with lots of lovely candles :)

Simon was super knowledgeable. He also adapted the course as we progressed to be in line with our interests.
Plenty of tea and biscuits, too!
When we realised we’d left without our scented jar candles, the team were happy to post them. Fabulous customer care.
Highlight of the day: hand dipping!

I had an amazing one to one master class with Simon Harman. The class content was informative and fun.
We used wax, wick, colour, scent and moulds in a variety of ways.
This course is for everyone you will definitely want to go straight home and start candle making.
Thank you Simon

I lucked out today as the other people on my course had cancelled and I ended up having a 1-2-1 with Simon. He explained everything thoroughly and was happy to share all the tips and tricks of candle making at a great pace. I came away having made a range of candles and the course more than lived up to my expectations! Definitely recommended for the beginner.
