Eight fun and fast evenings that introduce the basics of patchwork and quilting. Saturday mornings starting 30th September; 7th, 21st Oct; 4th, 21st Nov; 2nd Dec; 6th, 20th January
The course’s goal is to teach the relevant and necessary skills for you to begin your journey into quilt making. Using your sewing machine each session you will be looking at new blocks, colour choices, different cutting techniques, and other aspects of the construction process, you will gain confidence and a love for this creative art form. You will be making a Sampler Quilt of 6 blocks plus sashing and border.. You will also be given extra homework and make further blocks to broaden your knowledge. The emphasis during this course is on the learning of the techniques rather than on the end project.
What's included in the price?
At the completion of this course, participants will
understand basic patchwork and quilting equipment and materials
be able to make sewing machine pieced patchwork blocks
understand safety aspects of rotary cutting techniques
know basic quilting terminology
know how to construct quilt layers and machine or hand quilt
be confident in their own ability to put colours together
feel enthusiastic about pursuing further patchwork projects.
Students need to have their own sewing machine and will need to provide fabric for their quilt.
They will also need a quarter inch foot for sewing seams.
Mats, cutters, rulers are available along with irons and ironing boards to use. Coffee, tea and biscuits provided.
