About the Course

This course is aimed at those new to beekeeping or looking for a refresher. It has been run by Sidcup Beekeepers Association (SBKA) each Spring for over 20 years.

The first two Saturday mornings are theory sessions taught in a class-room setting near Canada Water.
There are then two practical days on Saturdays at SBKA's teaching apiary near Sidcup.
The course is led by a Master Beekeeper (Ian Stell) along with other members of SBKA.
(Please contact us for the schedule of dates on which the course runs).

The course covers bee biology, the principles of keeping honey bees, routine inspections, bee diseases, swarming and the honey crop.

If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.

What's included in the price?

No previous experience or equipment required.
Tea and coffee provided. Bring a packed lunch for the practical sessions.

The theory sessions are followed by videos to be watched at home, with quizzes as a way of reinforcing key points.
