Beautiful Bouquets in Watercolour Workshop

Beautiful Bouquets in Watercolour Workshop

Painting in a loose and expressive style - letting the paint do the work. Liz’s aim in this workshop is to help you to loosen up and paint the essence of flowers and foliage, so that you can handle watercolour with more confidence - embracing its often unpredictable nature to depict the beautiful colours and forms of a floral bouquet. Liz will bring along plenty of fresh flowers for us to work from as well as some images. Please feel free to bring along some of your own if you have any particular favourites. Liz will also supply all the paper that you need for the day and will bring along plenty of other materials just in case.

What to bring:

Board - to support your paper

Brushes - Sable watercolour brushes are best but pricey, so I use a lot of synthetics these days as the quality is so much better than it used to be. The lower price means that you can afford to buy more sizes.

Suggested brushes:

The bigger the better! Bring along what you have, but if you would like guidance on what to buy here are my suggestions:

SAA Silver Big Wash Brush (Size 20) - this is a really good quality large brush if you want to splash out.

SAA Silver all rounder brush size 10, or Ken Bromley Artists’ Value Round Profile Brush size 12

SAA Silver flatmate brush 0.5inch

1 inch flat brush (any make)

Rigger brush 02 (any make)

Plastic palette with deep wells for watercolour

Water spray bottle2b pencil and rubber

Masking tape

Watercolour paints

Suggested basic colours:

cerulean blue

ultramarine blue

lemon yellow

cadmium yellow

cadmium red

alizarin crimson

naples yellow

burnt sienna or sepia

perylene violet

opera Rose

Optional Colours: Shell pink, Lavender (Holbein)
