About the Course

James Adair is a Qualified Master Saddler and Leatherworker, with over 30 years experience in the industry. He is also a Side Saddle Specialist, so a lot of his work is handsewn, and everything is handmade in his workshop. The course is for those who want to learn the basic techniques to produce hand-stitched leather items and have little or no previous experience.

The aim of the course is for the students to learn about the following:

Leathers: their qualities & potential;
How to use and maintain hand tools safely;
How to use patterns & cut leather;
How to confidently hand-stitch;
How to cut, edge and finish including bevelling & burnishing.

Possible projects can include leather belts, bags, dog collars / leads or a purse.

If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above or telephone us. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.

What's included in the price?

Course fee includes tea, coffee, fruit juice & water throughout. It also includes lunch on both days. We will provide you with the use of tools for the duration, and gloves and an apron. Your leather is extra as you choose the leather for your projects whilst you are here (usually around £20 - £30).
