About the Course
The BA (Hons) Top-Up year is equivalent to the third year of a university degree and will allow those who have completed a National Diploma or equivalent Level 5 qualification to achieve a full BA (Hons). The Top-Up year can be the final step in your progression on our accredited Fashion courses beginning with the Access to Fashion and HND (Art & Design) Fashion Diplomas.
This course will allow you to explore, experiment, refine and evaluate your own practice in preparation for a career in the Fashion Industry. Opportunities to develop professional skills through independent and collaborative projects will enable you to achieve a deeper understanding of the industry and define your place within it. A range of career outcomes in fashion may be supported; including menswear, womenswear, costume design, tailoring, bridal and eveningwear.
By the end of the course you will be able to

Learning and teaching to achieve the Learning Outcomes is achieved through project based briefs. This will support the focus on collaboration, live projects and engagement with industry links and the development of advanced technical skills that will aid students in their transition into industry. Class sessions will include a range of methods: tutor demonstrations, individual and group projects, workshops, student presentations, VLE and peer learning. Engagement in the industry will be encouraged via work placement, work shadowing, live project briefs, guest lecturers. There will also be a Final Exhibition combining the design and commercial aspects of the coursework with potential for public presentation or retail opportunities.
In order to ensure that you make the best possible progress on your course, you will have regular feedback from your tutor, in a constructive and supportive environment.
