This exciting course will allow you to define your place within the rapidly changing world of fashion. Opportunities to develop professional skills through independent and collaborative projects will enable you to explore, experiment, refine and evaluate your own practice and gain a deeper understanding of the industry in preparation for your fashion career. Each of the specialist course units provides the time and space for a comprehensive exploration of creative concept themes supported by academic research in the completion of your fully realised graduate collection.

A final exhibition combining conceptual and commercial outcomes provides potential for you to engage with the public through a presentation or retail setting. You will be supported in your studies by our expert team of practitioner-tutors and technicians, each of whom are specialists in a range of fields, supported by guest lecturers and contacts within the industry. You will be encouraged to forge working relationships with professional contacts relevant to your interests and design aesthetic to support the transition into industry upon completion of the course.

The BA (Hons) Top-Up year is equivalent to the third year of a university degree and will allow those who have completed a National Diploma or equivalent Level 5 qualification to achieve a full BA (Hons) Degree. The Top-Up year can be the final step in your progression on our accredited Fashion courses beginning with the Access to Fashion Studies and HND (Art & Design) Fashion Diplomas.

What's included in the price?

Your progress towards achieving the learning outcomes will be reviewed throughout the course. At the start of the course you will have an opportunity to discuss these with your tutor and set your own personal targets, linked to the learning outcomes and future goals i.e.: progression to another course.

Our Online Plus delivery model provides ample opportunities to engage with course material while developing vital transferable skills for online working. Our user-friendly digital teaching and learning resources incorporate Microsoft Office 365 and Microsoft Teams.

Moodle resources for every course unit support taught sessions and independent study alongside a robust online Fashion Library, with useful tutorial clips, research materials and informational handouts, created to help you stretch your skills further. For in-centre workshops, you will benefit from access to individual work areas. Learning is achieved through project-based briefs with a focus on research driven creative practice and advanced technical skills.

You will be assessed through graded projects and coursework, collaborative or interdisciplinary group work, case study projects, assignments and reflective writing. In the fashion studio each work area comes complete with industry standard equipment, providing you with a personal workspace and individual access to: Juki industrial sewing machine K&L stand ironing station personal worktable

In our CAD Studio you will have individual Apple Mac workstations with Adobe software package and individual laptops for Gerber Technologies. Computers, scanners and printers are also available in the College’s learning centre.

Our robust virtual learning environment includes our digital fashion library, where you will have access to additional research tools including: video tutorials exhibition catalogues fashion news and events fashion industry archive
