About the Course
A course designed to get the most out of the spectacular Pembrokeshire landscape and natural history. We hope to visit a number of different locations shooting not only fantastic landscapes but also plant life and animal life. Prior photographic knowledge is useful to get the most out of the course but advice and guidance will be given along the way. Each day we will head to different locations for short walks and of course lots of photography. Weather permitting; one day will be spent in mid-Pembrokeshire enjoying the Marloes Peninsula and Wooltack Point (overlooking Skomer Island). On another we can visit St. David’s city and a nearby headland for a mixture of architecture and pre-history, rock formations and coastal scenery. We may spend some time on Newgale beach if time and conditions allow. Another day can be spent exploring Pembrokeshire’s Preseli Hills and famous Gwaun valley or we may choose to go south to the limestone scenery. Please note the program will be flexible to meet participants' needs and to suit the prevailing weather conditions. In the evenings we can relax in the Centre with the options to have talks on photography and the natural history of the Park, or participants may wish to spend time processing their images. There are some laptops in the Centre with basic image editing software on them but you may wish to bring your own equipment with your preferred image-processing package. This course finishes on Saturday 26 October at breakfast-time and can easily be combined with the new course “Writing the Wild” running that day. John Archer-Thomson has a long association with Pembrokeshire and was previously Assistant Head of Centre at Dale Fort. His special interests include diving, photography, ecology and natural history.
