These two short sessions will explore Cezanne and his close circle of artists and writers. We will go behind the scenes into the world of the avant-garde area of Montmartre, Paris in the second half of the nineteenth century to reveal and explain Cezanne and his world of ragged lines and radiant colour.
By the end of the course you will be able to
• Talk about the influences on Cezanne.
• Recognise the artwork of Cezanne
• Understand Cezanne’s legacy and impact upon modern art
Class format and activities
The two hours, offered online through ‘Go to Meeting’ or ‘Teams’ will be taught in an informal lecture/ discussion format with Powerpoint presentations shared on screen. There will be a 15-minute break in the middle of the session. You are encouraged to engage in discussion and lecture materials will be shared by email.
Constructive and supportive feedback from your tutor will help you succeed during the class.
There are no entry requirements. This course will be accessible to you if you have no prior knowledge of art and design and is open to learners with varying backgrounds, as well as art practitioners.
