About the Course
Book in for our Artisan Bread Making Workshop and learn the history of Bread, make your own sourdough starter to take home, and watch the grain being milled on stones powered by the 19th century waterwheel before using the stone ground flour to produce your very own artisan loaves.
What will you do?
After a short introduction with our resident baker you will explore the history of bread by taking part in a guided tour of our 19th century water powered corn mill where you will watch the process of milling grain from kernel to meal. You will then learn the skills of ‘bolting’ meal to flour and the stages of flour refining. You will then go through all health, safety and fire management procedures before going on to begin creating your very own artisan breads from the flour you have bolted and mastering the processes and techniques used by artisan bakers past and present.
