Learn textile drawing & sketching with visiting textile artist Ruth Parkinson-Johns.
This is a course for those who are passionate about creative textiles. You will work with mixed media techniques, fabric decoration to include some dyeing and printing followed by stitching with free hand machine embroidery and combined with experimental techniques.
The beginning of the course will involve a variety of techniques using procion dyes. Support and guidance will be given to help you interpret images from photographs, still life objects etc. Then produce a lino block which can be printed onto the dyed and painted cloth. The final process involves adding hand and machine embroidery techniques onto this work. The end product could be a one off piece of art, or something destined to be a cushion or a home furnishings piece.
