About the Course

Spend a morning creating this beautiful rush container and hearth brush which can be used as decoration for your home or garden with Basketmaker Karen Lawrence.

Rush is lightweight, soft and malleable thus gentle on the hands. It comes in a variety of colours from mellow greens, honey and golden yellows to russet tones.

Learn to plait a table or hearth brush and weave a square pen pot using beautiful rush. To make the container you will learn how to attach the rush to a mould and how to weave over the mould to create a 3D shape. You will also learn how to finish your pieces with a simple border.

You will learn a variety of basic weaving techniques that give you a good foundation for tackling bigger projects such as a tote bag which can be made on a future workshop

If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above or telephone us. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.
