About the Course
This practical course will equip you with the skills and knowledge to create a unique and diverse portfolio.
This could be for future studies, professional development or purely for personal interest.
The aim of the course is to build your confidence and vocabulary when working in the art and design studio.
The topics will include:
body and adornment
colour and light
drawing and observation
idea generation and project development
life drawing and experimentation
photography and image making
texture, pattern and surface
working with space and place.
Throughout the course you will undertake projects that explore creative thinking and the different processes involved in making art and design.
The course will also show you the importance of sketchbooks and how to approach independent research.
There will be sessions dedicated to assessing your development to ensure you are progressing, plus a final portfolio review day.
What will you gain?
The course can help you start a portfolio for entry on to an undergraduate programme, or it can simply be an opportunity to work in the art school environment on a variety of structured projects.
Either way it will encourage you to develop your personal approach to making art and design.
To benefit from this course you will need to commit to a small amount of independent study time between sessions to ensure that you complete the projects.
