Entry requirements
The course is suitable for complete beginners, or those with some experience in film and video-editing who want to develop their skills further or explore postproduction in new ways.Good computer skills are essential for making this course a success. Therefore, all students are expected to be confident in using a computer for tasks such as word processing, saving, managing files, browsing the internet etc. Students may benefit from enrolling on our ‘How to use a Mac Computer’. This short course can be taken alongside with any of our digital design, film and photography courses and will help you to gain the confidence you need when working with digital tools. As part of the course you will be asked to read tutorials, take notes and discuss related topics, therefore, all students must be able to speak, read and write in English.

What you need to know before you enrol
The Course will be taught on Apple mac computers in a bright, comfortable modern studio. It would be helpful if you have some familiarity with Macintosh computers and know how to use standard menus and commands. However this is not an essential requirement as these skills can be picked up during the course. As part of the course you will be asked to read tutorials, take notes and discuss related topics. As this is a computer-based course students will be encouraged to be aware of fatigue and eye strain and to take breaks when necessary. You may wish to revise and practise at home to reinforce what you have learned during the lesson. Information about computers and relevant software will be provided by the tutor. Many of the Art & Design studios have limited accessibility. If you have restricted mobility please contact the Art & Design Administrator on 0207 450 1934 or Learning Support on 0207 450 1835 before enrolling.

What you will need for your class
Paper, pens, pencils, USB computer keys (recommend 4 Gb minimum).
Comfortable, practical clothing for working with art materials. It would be beneficial to your studies if you possess the software for use at home. As a student of Morley College you are entitled to a discount on Adobe CC Software. Your tutor can advise you on how to apply for this.

What you can do next
This course could lead to another Morley course, for example Adobe After Effects - Intermediate, stop-motion animation, or provide the student witha solid framework to continue film-making and animation as a hobby or vocation. This could include learning about the specific worlds of 3D computer animation (CGI), compositing, and other technical niche skills. It could also lead to further study at Morley, either of stop motion, video editing, computer animation software, or other Adobe products such as Photoshop or Illustrator. Up, and away- the sky really is the limit in an art form that is every bit as big as your imagination.
