About the Course
Ideal for animation and film-making enthusiasts, this course introduces you to the basic concepts and tools of Adobe After Effects. You will gain the confidence to begin using this software in a professional environment to produce animations and special effects.
An ideal introduction to Adobe After Effects, the most widely used, industry standard digital compositing package. Learn how to create projects, animate properties and export projects whilst learning about the major sections and tools of the software. Perfect for film and video students or enthusiasts who are seeking to expand their potential and learn how to use compositing within their projects. If you are not entitled to a reduced fee but are finding it difficult to pay for your course in one go, we can offer a Staged Payment Agreement to split the costs into three payments if your course(s) costs £200 or more. The course is suitable for beginners in film and video-editing You will be receive weekly presentations on the basic techniques of animation using Adobe After Effects. You will begin to create short animated pieces using exercises with room for individual interpretation, that grow in scale and ambition as the course progresses. We will continually discuss your work, and critique it for areas of improvement. Your tutor will offer feedback and peer discussion and presentation will take place regularly.
In order to ensure that you make the best possible progress on your course, you will have regular feedback from your tutor, in a constructive and supportive environment.
Good computer skills are essential for making this course a success. Therefore, all students are expected to be confident in using a computer for tasks such as word processing, saving, managing files, browsing the internet etc. This short course can be taken alongside with any of our digital design, film and photography courses and will help you to gain the confidence you need when working with digital tools.
As part of the course you will be asked to read tutorials, take notes and discuss related topics, therefore, all students must be able to speak, read and write in English.
What you need to know before you enrol
You will be spending most of the lesson using the computers provided- this needs to considered- and breaks may be necessary if issues arrive with screen over- exposure.
What you will need for your class
Paper, pens, pencils, USB computer keys (recommend 4 Gb minimum). Comfortable, practical clothing for working with art materials, a computer with After Effects installed would be a huge advantage in terms of effective self-study outside of class.
