Description
This daytime weaving workshop runs from 10am - 2pm and will be a wonderful introduction to the craft of pattern weaving... You will be provided with an Ashford Rigid Heddle loom to use in the workshop. The loom will be set up for you with a warp prior to your arrival at the studio. During the day you can explore a range of woven patterns, combining them to make a sampler style fabric suitable for either a woven scarf or a cushion cover. We work with soft cotton yarns which are lovely and strong and make the perfect beginners warp and a range of textured yarns will also be provided for you to experiment with in your weaving. This class will also cover the basics of reading a colour pattern draft for the rigid heddle loom and the principles of creating a balanced cloth. If you are a confident beginner we can also add in extra techniques for hand manipulated decorative weaves to create lace and raised patterns in your weaving. Classes are suited to individuals or small groups. Various time slots for you to complete your course can be booked by prior agreement.
