About the Course
This introduction to modern calligraphy will teach you how to create beautiful letters with a nib and ink.
This course will introduce you to the basics of modern calligraphy, starting with the tools and strokes then leading on to the modern calligraphy alphabet. Once you have built up confidence with the alphabet we will move on to joining the letters to create seamless words. The day will end with a couple of projects putting your skills to good use and you will create some gift tags, greetings cards and your favourite quote.
This course is suitable for beginners.
There will be an additional fee of £15 for materials which is payable in cash to the tutor at the start of the course. This includes everything you will need to take part in the course - penholder, nib, black ink, layout paper, plain tags cards and envelopes.
If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.
What's included in the price?
Tea, coffee, biscuits and cold refreshments will be available throughout the day. Lunch is not provided, although The Phoenix Kitchen, just next door, provides an array of meals, light lunches and snacks. Alternatively, there is a fridge and microwave in the studio kitchen for you to use if you prefer to bring your own lunch.
I had a wonderful time at Lauren's Calligraphy Workshop for Beginners. She went into a lot of detail about using the right supplies and offered great tips on useful resources and supply stores. Her workshop was relaxed and thorough - she made sure to go around and check on everyone and all her advice was spot on. I would highly recommend it!
