About the Course

In this one-day workshop you will make two single-section paper bindings without the use of adhesives that can be used as a journal or a notebook. You will learn about paper grain, the cutting and folding of paper and the creation of functional and beautiful book covers, and will be introduced to the sewing of books. We will also cover the selection of materials and tools for your own work.

You will go away with full written instructions for recreating both bindings and with the skills and knowledge to be able to experiment and create your own simple bindings at home using only a few basic tools.

As no previous experience is required, this is an ideal course for beginner bookbinders.

The workshop is limited to 8 participants. For further information and/or bookings please e-mail or text. Participants who are 15 -18 years old must be accompanied by a paying adult.

Ngaio Vince-Dewerse is a book and paper conservator currently working at the Cambridge University Library. She is passionate about book binding and is inspired by the creation of things that are both useful and beautiful.

If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above or telephone us. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.
