About the Course
Traditional standard style ballroom featuring more freestyle choreography and fewer syllabus steps.
Who is this course for
No previous dance experience necessary. Learners with experience in ballroom dancing may find this complements their existing knowledge but it is not necessary to have experience in ballroom dancing. This course is designed for anyone who is interested in learning to dance 'American Smooth' style.
What does this course cover
This course will cover basic dance technique in order to create American Smooth routines. Each week will feature one self contained routine featuring a mix of standard ballroom steps and creative choreography, which will be danced as a group, both solo and with a partner. The routines will take the form of a 'show' style dance with elements of formation dancing and the opportunity for learners to contribute creative ideas.
1, Demonstrate a selection of American Smooth dance routines.
2, Perform steps and movements in time to a range of authentic music, showing rhythmical interpretation.
3, Demonstrate ability to dance with and without a partner in a group sequence.
