March 2018 - Landscapes in Ink and Bleach
Experiment with various types of ink and a gentle bleach solutions for interesting textures and effects. “Accidental’ reactions between both mediums create dramatic landscape and sky effects, or a more controlled approach can be taken to keep the work ‘tight’. The stunning scenery of the Lake District will be our inspiration for the day.
November 2018 Christmas Cards with Ink and Bleach
Have fun with a variety of clever techniques using various of inks with bleach to create distinctive designs for your Christmas cards. You will explore and experiment with these .
Traditional Christmas images (stars, trees, robins, angels, snow scenes etc) will be given a ‘make-over’ when interpreted using ink and bleach techniques to create distinctive and different Christmas card designs
Patsy will bring all the equipment you will need but if you have fountain pen ink (Quink), dip pens, paint brushes (Ones that you won’t mind dipping into bleach), drawing pens or your own watercolour paper, this might be useful. You may also wish to bring any moody or dramatic landscape pictures to use as inspiration, but Patsy will also bring these. There may be a small charge for inks and paper provided by Patsy.
Patsy Derry has taught art in schools for over 20 years and to various age groups since. Living now, in the inspirational beauty of the English Lake District, has allowed her to develop her portfolio of painting techniques s and photographs. She likes to work in a variety of mediums, watercolour, pastel, acrylic, ink and bleach, and pencil, developing a distinctive style in each. Chair of Ambleside and District Art Society,

What's included in the price?
Welcome drinks : fresh coffee & home made biscuits, a lovely 2 course Aga lunch served in our farmhouse kitchen or outside in the Greystoke Cycle Cafe Tea Garden as soon as it's warm enough. To finish off the day, a freshly made Cream Tea (including Aga-baked scones, cream and jam).
Our days are considered special treats; many come back time and time again and often combine it with a short break to the Lake District.
We have been hosting and organising 'Quirky Workshops' since 2005 from our friendly family run Cycle Cafe Tea Garden on the northern fringes of the Lake District. All our tutors are carefully hand selected experts and professionals and many considered as leading nationally in their field.
