This course is aimed at people who have some experience of keeping bees, and would like to know how to manage an ongoing hive in a sustainable manner. We discuss techniques to keep your colony in good health and productivity, how to deal with the many and varied matters that arise from keeping bees naturally. There is also time to ask questions and discuss specific queries as this is a fantastic way to learn about different issues. The course is split over two sessions so information overload is kept to a minimum!

Topics covered include:

Spring checks and autumn provision
Natural swarm management techniques
Swarming and supersedure
Hive products and sustainable harvesting of honey
Colony increase and multiple hives
Foundationless beekeeping
Adequate forage provision for your bees
General troubleshooting

We can walk around the Apiary and discuss the hives in situ.

What's included in the price?

I provide a handout with all the information discussed but you're welcome to take notes. Refreshments included: tea, herbal tea and cafetière coffee with home made cakes.
Discounts available for joint/multiple bookings.
