About the Course
4 week introduction to changing and adapting your patterns
Part one - Bodice styles
On this short course you will learn how to be more creative with your patterns and be able to add interesting features to your commercial patterns (or your block if you have one). You will make a copy of a pattern that fits you and then use some of these techniques to re-design your pattern:
* Move darts to anywhere on the bodice using cut and close and pivot techniques.
* Remove darts, using the dart allowance to form princess seams.
* Replace dart shaping with shaped yokes which absorb the dart allowance yet retain the fit
* Learn 'slash and spread' techniques to create fullness, gathers, pleats and tucks.
* Form flounces and frills to add interest to necks or hems.
*Create diagonal or curved seams for colour block styles
You'll need a plain shift dress or blouse pattern in your size or your sloper or block if you have one. You'll also need large sheets of pattern paper, 2 metres fabric to make a toile and 2 metres fabric for your garment. All this is available to purchase in our shop.
£25 per 2.5 hour session payable in advance.
