Needle felt artist Sophie Wheatley welcomes you to a delightful day learning how to needle felt and adorable needle felt animal at a workshop in the heart of rural Warwickshire. Workshops are held in an all purpose garden studio which is a haven for you to visit and be treated to a day of felt creativity, good food and beautiful surroundings. The relaxed and friendly atmosphere is the perfect environment for you to enjoy a craft in the company of like minded people and leave with new knowledge and having met new friends.
Small group numbers ensure that you will receive close guidance and personal instruction throughout the day so that you leave with the skills to continue your craft at home, while taking home your very own little felt creation.
This course is perfect for beginners or those with a little bit of experience, however the majority of people who attend have never needle felted before and take home fantastic needle felt models they are thrilled with (read Sophie's reviews). Throughout the workshop you will learn about three dimensional needle felting technique, working with felting tools, how to create and join different shapes and how to needle felt around wire. There will be lots of different types of sheep fleece for you to work with, with which to add your own special touches, and I will show you the differences between fibre texture, length and lustre and demonstrate which fibres work well for needle felting. Don't forget to bring photos if you have a specific project for example a pet or animal that you want to make. I will have felt models available for you to handle and for inspiration on the day.
At the end of the day you will leave with new knowledge and a craft skill set to continue with your very own needle felt projects. You will have access to a directory of suggested needle felting and fleece suppliers and I shall be on hand for post workshop advice should you need it! I love hearing how people are getting on!
I sell needle felting starter kits for the great value of £15.00 for those who want to head home and carry on needle felting! This pack includes a large foam pad, six needles, finger protectors and carded wool batting (ideal for needle felting) in colours of your choice. All equipment and wool can also be purchased individually.
Workshops are held in a garden studio in Hatton Warwickshire. This is beautiful all purpose venue set in beautiful rural surroundings and is easy to find with good main road links to the A46 and within easy distance of the M40, M1 and M6. There is plenty of on site parking too. On booking you will be sent confirmation information detailing what to expect of the day and how to get there.
Please check on my website for course availability. I look forward to hearing from you!
What's included in the price?
The workshop includes all equipment that you will need for the day, just bring your enthusiasm. Equipment includes felting needles with plenty of spares, wooden needle extension handles, finger protectors, a felting sponge and plenty of beautiful fleece and fibres for you to choose from.
Also included in the price is a delicious homemade seasonal lunch, prepared by Warwickshire chef extraordinaire Carole Wheatley (my mum) with a variety of different refreshments and snacks on hand throughout the day to cater for everyone's needs.
Every effort is made to ensure you have a lovely, relaxing day meeting new friends and learning new skills so that you leave with the inspiration to continue a new found craft.
I attended my very first needle felting course with Sophie on Saturday and what a truly wonderful day it was too!!!!
The location of her studio is idyllic and the day was spent with a group of lovely ladies making a range of felted animals.
With Sophie's enthusiasm, skill and encouragement we all created our own precious "masterpiece" - something that I certainly did not imagine I could or indeed would achieve!!!
To top the day Sophie's lovely mother provided the most amazing lunch for us all.
I would recommend Sophie's workshops to anyone who is eager to learn needle felting - you will have a perfect day!!!
My daughter and I attended the felting course on the 10th June, the course was brought for me as part of my retirement present and my daughter also wanted to come with me. We had a wonderful day and a super lunch thanks to Sophie's mother. The course surpassed my expectations and the dog I created actually looked like a dog. Sophie is a great teacher and I can truly say that I have a new hobby. I would certainly recommend the course to anyone great value for money, Sophie should charge a lot more.
I would definitely recommend this course. Sophie is a great teacher, who quickly puts you at ease, and with her kind gentle approach, she leads you through the whole process. None of us in the group had tried needle felting before, but we all made something to be pleased with. The setting is charming, and Sophies mums cooking is delicious. A thoroughly enjoyable day. Thank you Sophie.
A wonderful day! Sophie is a brilliant, engaging and patient teacher and we were amazed at how quickly our pieces took shape under her guidance. She starts from the beginning but also shares tips on more advanced techniques to get your model just right. The class size enabled Sophie to give everyone individual attention and the setting is extremely relaxing. Lunch provided by Sophie's mum is also brilliant and made the whole day just seem an extra special treat! My daughter and I had a fantastic day out together and we were inspired to do more needle felting at home (Sophie also sell very good starter packs to take away). All in all I cannot fault this course!
I only have praise for the most perfect workshop day! The setting is a wonderful bespoke studio with Sophie being on hand through out the entire day to guide and teach you all the skills you need to learn or improve your knowledge of this incredibly addictive craft. A gorgeous homemade lunch is freshly prepared by Sophie's Mum and the entire day fly's by! Every participant completed a project (dogs or rabbits) and I have already signed up to another day - can't wait!
I have no hesitations in recommending Sophie's workshops to all.
I recently attended one of Sophie's courses with a friend & had a thoroughly enjoyable day .I initially was quite nervous as never done needle felting before , but something i have always wanted to try . Once we got going & with Sophie's tutoring i quickly felt at ease . in a really lovely setting .Sophie is a very patient & talented tutor , very knowledgeable about the craft & materials & a warm & friendly lady . Beautiful lunch courtesy of her lovely mum , a scrummy pavlova ! .Met some lovely people ,we were all so happy with our models , mine being my lurcher dog .I would highly recommend you to book one of Sophie's courses . Thank you for a wonderful day ! Lyn
I attended one of Sophie's workshops on Saturday, the day was brilliant and completely exceeded my expectations!
I was inspired by Sophie and all of the other lovely ladies in my group. We were all completely new to needle felting yet we all produced a wonderful selection of felted dogs.
Sophie is so friendly, professional and enthusiastic , encouraging us as we progressed with no pressure on any of us to rush.
We were reluctant to put down our needles at lunchtime until we saw the delicious lunch produced by Sophie's Mum, this gave us a reason to pause ready to start again in the afternoon.
Like others have stated this seems to be the start of a very addictive hobby, I would definitely recommend anyone to give it a go.......
My sister-in-law and I attended one of Sophie's courses together today as a birthday treat. Neither of us had ever done any needle felting so we were completely clueless. The day was heavenly: Sophie is so kind, patient and diplomatic with her input, everything is provided that you might need and her teaching technique is flawlessly generous. Refreshments were plentiful and lunch was a delightful feast giving us all a well-earned 'cold-turkey' from our new-found addiction. By the end of the day everyone had produced the most beautiful and eclectic selection of dogs most of which looked thoroughly professional (mine had some work to do still but was well on its way...). My fellow wool stabbers were a lovely bunch - the camaraderie of the day was an additional bonus.
Sophie has a fantastic selection of starter kits and wools available so that you can have another go/worsen your addiction at home; all in all a wonderful treat and a hugely satisfying crafty success. Thanks Sophie for being such a gracious artist/teacher/hostess and huge thanks also to Sophie's mum for her amazing and delicious cooking!
The day I recently spent on this course was fantastic. Sophie's own work is inspirational, and she is a lovely teacher, giving all sorts of background information about felting that was very interesting, as well as individual attention to all participants. I really feel that I learnt a lot, certainly enough to carry on practising at home. The collection of dogs we had all made by the end of the day was adorable. I have enjoyed showing off my toy poodle, and photos of all the dogs to friends and family. We also had a fantastic lunch. Sophie catered for my dietary restrictions, which was a great treat for me. All in all it was the best value for money I have spent in a long time and I really recommend this course to anyone interested.
This was most definitely one of the best craft courses I have ever attended. Such a well thought out day which included a fabulous lunch made by Sophie's mom. The room and facilities were ideal. Sophie is very friendly and welcoming and combined with that, a great teacher with lots of patience and enthusiasm for the craft. I made a felted sculpture of my Welsh Springer which I now proudly display at home. I also came away with enough confidence and information to start making one of my other dog a Cocker Spaniel. Everyone on the course did really well we all came away with prized felted dogs. I would recommend that if you are thinking of felting go on this course you learn so much. I hope to return and learn some more. Thanks Sophie.
Booked for Mum and I as a Christmas gift to ourselves. What a wonderful day! I made a stoat and Mum made a squirrel - both fantastic, if we do say so ourselves - even though we'd never done this before. Sophie is lovely - warm and welcoming. She clearly loves her craft and knows her stuff. She has a wonderful 'can-do', flexible approach to your project, helping you to achieve something of which you can be proud. The venue is gorgeous, the food provided wonderful, the information given before, during and after the day spot-on and I would heartily recommend this day to anyone thinking about booking. You will not be disappointed in any way.
Simply put, book this workshop! Sophie has done an absolutely amazing job at creating the perfect experience. Easily one of the most welcoming and nicest people I've ever encountered, with such a passion for this wonderful craft. Going in knowing absolutely nothing about needle felting, my mother-in-law and I have come away with a new love and hobby. The garden studio was relaxing and lovingly decorated, the lunch by her sweet mom was scrumptious, and we came away with mini versions of our dogs that we actually want to keep and are already displaying. We were made to feel so comfortable and she took her time with each of us in the group (6 of us) to help throughout the day, with no pressure to rush at all. Sophie is truly in her element, a fantastic teacher and has really inspired me to start a new hobby, which I've been missing from my life for so long. Thank you so much, Sophie!
Thank you Sophie for another fun filled informative day. Thoroughly enjoyed the company, the craft making and your mums lovely lunch. Looking forward to a further workshop in December. Highly recommended and great value.
All the best
My colleagues bought me this course as a Birthday present and what a fantastic gift. A great day, Sophie was very knowledgeable and skilful about her craft and I came home with a beautiful replica of my late Border Collie Moss. Based in a lovely setting with a delicious lunch and refreshments Sophie talked us through the ideal fleeces to use and demonstrated the techniques required to create our 3D models. She was very encouraging and supportive and all seven ladies went home with some fantastic model animals and a real sense of achievement. Thank you Sophie for a really enjoyable day and a thorough introduction to a lovely craft.
I went along to the dog making course expecting to bring home a half-finished piece of work but this was far from the case. After a really lovely day which included a delicious lunch and snacks in a delightful setting, I arrived home with a very recognisable dog which resembled our own whippet cross, and which has been much admired by others. Sophie, who is very knowledgable about dogs and very skilful, was extremely generous in the information and materials she gave us, she was very clear in her demonstrations/instructions and was able to give everyone individual attention when needed.
I highly recommended course.
Thank you to Sophie for a wonderful day. I cannot express how much I enjoyed the whole experience. Sophie was so enthusiastic, kind and patient, a brilliant teacher.
I have been truly inspired by Sophie and the other lovely ladies at the workshop and cannot wait to have a go at my next model.
I would truly love to attend another workshop to learn more, something to look forward to in the future.
Had a brilliant day. I had never done needle felting before. And I was very surprised and pleased that I came away with a miniature version of my Japanese Spitz dog. Sophie is a really gifted teacher who is passionate about her craft. this in turn was catching, as none of us seemed to want to stop for lunch. It was very enjoyable. And I can't thank Sophie or her mother enough for their hospitality. I have come away with a needle felting kit so as to continue developing these skills I gained.
Taking this course we had a thoroughly lovely, relaxing but productive day. Sophie was very knowledgeable, helpful and kind so all course members finished the day with an animal to be proud of! If you are interested in craft I would definitely recommend this course. I would love to do it again!!
I was recipient of this brilliant gift. A day felting with my friend, a group of lovely ladies taught by the brilliant Sophie. Under her instruction I came away with a fully fledged felt dog and an addiction to felting! I've made about 5 felt creatures since the workshop over a month ago. Sophie is very generous with her knowledge and experience and then for lunch her mother appears with an absolutely brilliant lunch! Perfect day.
I booked this for a friend's birthday. We had a lovely day. At the start i thought, i'm never going to be able to make one of those in a day. At the end, i came away with a lovely little border terrier using a photo of a friend's dog as inspiration. Sophie is great at sharing her skills and tips, very generous. We were there past the end of the course time - chatting and doing finishing touches, there was never a suggestion that we were intruding, or being pushed out. And as for the setting and lunch, delightful. Well worth the money. And my friend and i are still trying out felting. Beware, it's addictive.
I attend a lot of different assorted craft courses and it's not very often on a course day that you've really achieved and produced something on your first day but I came away with a piece of work that I was really proud of at the end of the day. Sophie is a very friendly and confident teacher who goes out of her way to help make the day a wonderful experience. I already felt in the first half hour of teaching that I had learnt a lot and received my moneys worth of teaching! It was really interesting to look at the different types of sheep wool and feel how different they were to each other. She made the whole process seem so simple and demystified the hobby for me. There was lots of refreshment throughout the day, teas/coffees, chocolate eclairs, a wonderful lunch which included a smashing pavlova made by her mum. Special diets were also catered for. The garden workshop is lovely and it provided a very peaceful and relaxing setting for the day. As Sophie promised, nobody wanted to put down their creations for lunch as they were all enjoying making it so much. In fact I think we'd all of loved to have spent the whole weekend creating and we didn't want to go home. Sophie's enthusiasm is infectious. I have come away with more knowledge and the confidence to have a go on my own and create some more animals.
I had a lovely day with Sophie and the other ladies on my course. I was inspired by the setting for the day; all the different wools and colours available brought to life by Sophie's explanations were fabulous. I completed a needle-felted penguin under her instruction. He's cute, and I'm so proud of him! The food and warm, lovingly provided hospitality from by Sophie's Mum was appreciated too. It was a great day which could only have been improved by a little more quiet time to concentrate on my felting and space in the conversation to ask questions. Thank you.
I had not done any needle felting at all until I went for my day at Sophie's workshop. It was a very enjoyable course, I learnt a great deal and Sophie was a wonderful teacher. The procedures were explained very carefully and Sophie was there to support us in times of need! It was lovely that we all made different items and were therefore able to see different procedures. I would be very happy to attend the course again.
This was the best day I have had crafting in a long time. I had no experience of felting at all and Sophie guided me throughout the day with patience and a smile. She is a wonderful teacher and I learnt so much. I made a small model of my dog Brussel and she looks absolutely fabulous (if I say so myself!) I can highly recommend this day you will love it
What a superb day we had learning all about felting! Sophie is kind, patient, knowledgeable and funny which is everything you need for a fabulous day learning a new skill.
If you had told me that I was going to turn the pile of wool in front of me at the beginning of the day into something which, frankly, I am enormously proud of I would never have believed you but Sophie managed to teach us all to be 'so clever' whilst feeding us the most amazing food and drinks..what a genius she is!!!! Cannot rate this fantastic day highly enough. I loved it...thank you so much Sophie xx
I attended the workshop with Sophie earlier this month and can highly recommend it. As it was on a weekend it was important to me that the start time was not too early , so i was delighted that we started at a very acceptable 10.30am , with coffee and tea waiting for us when we got there. Sophie took the time to give individual attention to each group member and to help them choose the right materials to create their models in. The pace of the class was also carefully thought out with Sophie demonstrating each stage of the process before coming round and guiding each of us with our work. An excellent lunch was provided by Sophie's mum , and the afternoon saw us treated to coffee and cake. The models that our tutor had created demonstrated that she is clearly a very skilled craftsperson and even more than that, she can actually capture ( and help her pupils to capture ) the personality of animals with the use of just needles and wool. Overall a very enjoyable and relaxing day which even provided the chance to make new friends. What more could anyone need?
I thoroughly enjoyed the workshop. It was in a beautiful surrounding and included a delicious lunch. Sophie was so lovely and explained everything clearly and at a good pace. She also very kindly recommended places we could buy wool etc from after the workshop. I had a fantastic day and would highly recommend Sophie's workshop.
My second visit to Sophie's studio, and once again, it was a thoroughly enjoyable day. There was the very patient Sophie, increasing my knowledge and skills in this fascinating craft; a really encouraging, enthusiastic teacher. Fellow enthusiasts to chat to, and a superb meal. Would recommend it to anyone wanting to have a go. The course is great value for money. Highly recommended
Thoroughly enjoyed Sophie's workshop. Lots of tips and encouragement along the way and we were very well looked after - delicious lunch made by Sophie's mum. Very good value for money and worth travelling the 170 mile round trip from Hertfordshire. Thank you Sophie.
An absolutely delightful day I highly recommend this course to anyone. The food was amazing, Sophie is adorable and so patient. Nothing is too much trouble and I've learnt a skill I've been wanting to learn for a long time. Since the course I have needle felted more fairys and toadstools much to the dismay of my partner bless him lol. X
I attended Sophie's workshop as a complete novice, not even knowing what needle felting was - I left with a new passion and everything I needed to move on to my next project, including the confidence to simply have a go and see what evolves. Sophie is patience itself, and has a real gift for sharing her knowledge in a clear and fun way. Everything about the day was really well thought out and included THE most fantastic lunch cooked by Sophie's lovely mother, the whole day was thoroughly enjoyable. I couldn't recommend this workshop highly enough, thank you Sophie, and mum! x
Had a fantastic day at Sophie's studio. Sophie is a very kind, patient teacher, and I was delighted to achieve a recognizable model by the end of the day! The day went by too quickly; lovely Sophie, good company with fellow crafters, delicious food thanks to Sophie's mum, and a new craft addiction. Really cannot recommend this course too highly. Try it. You will not be disappointed.
We had a fantastic day. Sophie is lovely and very patient.
We had a wonderful day, had delicious food, picturesque surroundings and we learnt a new skill. We will be going again.i would thoroughly recommend it.
I attended one of Sophie's courses recently and I had the most fantastic time. The course was run at just the right pace with input from Sophie into my model whenever I need help. I felt I had really succeeded in my first foray into needle felting and I honestly believe all the participants that day would report the same. The home-made food provided for lunch was delicious and lots of drinks & biscuits were available during the day. The room went from very chatty as we discussed our plans to silence as we became engrossed in our individual projects and back again as we had breaks for refreshment. Whatever your ability you will have a fantastic time. I hope to come on another course very soon.
Thank you Sophie!
I'd been meaning to start needle felting for a while but it always seemed so overwhelming so I decided to do a workshop. I'm so glad I picked Sophie's. Everything about the day was fabulous and Sophie made it very enjoyable. I can't believe I managed to create a replica of one of my rabbits. I would recommend this class to any beginner and I would have no hesitation in attending future workshops with Sophie.
I went along to this workshop, not quite knowing what to expect but, hoping to enjoy a day of creativity. Sophie was the loveliest person and so patient with her teaching. She arranged for her partner to pick me up from the train station, nothing was too much trouble.
The cottage was amazing, so peaceful and the lunch by Sophie's mum-fantastic!
I had no previous experience of felting but had been wanting to try it for some time. I feel I learnt so much and was surprised at how much I could do.
I would recommend this workshop to anyone.
First time I have attempted any craft. I attended the workshop on my own. I was made very welcome by Sophie , the small numbers on the day meant i soon felt part of a group, informal friendly with inspiring information and instruction , no pressure, lovely calm ,peaceful surroundings.
I am coeliac and my dietary needs were carefully met. Lunch by Sophies mum was divine .
Totally recommend this course to anyone wishing to try a new craft,
a brilliant day by a very talented ,inspiring and patient lady.
I have attended two workshops with Sophie at All things Felt and Beautiful, apart from excellent tuition in Needle Felting, the day is an opportunity to relax, meet new people and enjoy lunch in the beautiful surroundings. It was suitable for the complete beginner and those of us that had done it a little before. I will be going back!
This is such a great way to spend a day that I have been twice! and I took my neighbour this time as a birthday treat.
Sophie is just a delight, welcoming, encouraging and very skilled. The surroundings are beautiful, the food delicious and to be with a group of lovely women learning a new skill was heart warming.
I am looking forward to doing some wet felting next, having made a bear and a female head so far - the possibilities are endless it seems with felt.
Thanks again Sophie.
My mum and I came to Sophie's studio having never felted anything before and were surprised at what lovely dogs we made. Sophie is really helpful and gives you the step by step so that you can make the dogs at home later yourself.
The food was amazing and we felt really comfortable and looked after for the whole day. Really enjoyed meeting everyone else, and what a beautiful studio.
I had done a small amount of needle felting before and wanted to have a go at making a dog. The booking process was straightforward, the venue lovely and Sophie was patient and helpful, providing lots of useful tips and techniques. The group size was also good and lunch delicious. I was really pleased with my dog and am inspired to do a bit more.
I attended Sophie's course recently and absolutely loved it. Sophie is very patient and generous with her knowledge and time. I was very pleased with the bear I made and it has encouraged me to do so much more! The lunch provided was excellent and the workspace was a lovely place to felt in. I have recommended the course to several friends and would definitely go back to learn more about needle felting. Sophie is definitely a master in her field.
Having tried 'needle felting ' at home I was keen to get a more realistic look to the quirky/ animated little objects that I was making. I was thrilled to find this course in a picturesque setting. I thought that it was good value for money, and was totally convinced of this once I'd spent the day with Sophie. Sophie introduced the various fibres that could be used as well as clearly explaining the technique of felting using barbed needles. By the end of the day, I took away an handsome dog, that actually looked like a dog with his appealing eyes.
As others have said, Sophie is so kind and friendly, and her mother's cooking delicious. I learnt so much, far more than I had from my own attempts through books and the internet.
This course would be ideal for a girl's day out, a gift for someone or a wonderful treat for yourself. Don't hesitate to book.
I attended Sophie's Teddy making course which was a fabulous day out. I had a little experience of needle felting but came away learning more techniques and with confidence to have a go on my own. I love the Teddy I made and was pleased with the result. I would recommend Sophies course, which is set in beautiful surroundings, and included a very tasty lunch cooked by her Mum.
I am the least creative person I know and somewhat embarrassed to admit that I had never even heard of felting ... so I was a bit worried about the day and what I might produce. However, I had a really great day and enjoyed every moment, even managing to produce something that might pass for a teddy. Well, a mouse maybe!
Sophie is not only very skilled at her art, but is a brilliant, supportive and very encouraging teacher, it really helped my confidence.
The setting is beautiful and lunch was very enjoyable.
It was a really great, very enjoyable day and I would highly recommend it to anyone, regardless of how creative they may (or may not!) be.
This was one of the best courses that I have ever attended
The venue was amazing the food was amazing but the warmth and enthusiasm form Sophie made the day truly fantastic I am so proud of my dog I can't believe I made it
Thankyou Sophie I just couldn't stop smiling on the day
I would recommend this course to anyone
This was the best course I have attended. The venue was delightful, a beautiful studio overlooking an orchard garden. Sophie was a most welcoming host, who made the course participants feel instantly at ease. Hot drinks, snacks and a delicious, home cooked lunch were a most welcome extra on a course like this. But by far and away the best part of the day was the course itself. Sophie introduced the craft of needle felting, demonstrated the various yarns available, gained an idea of what the course participants wanted to achieve and throughout the rest of the day ensured that these goals were met with her tireless assistance and sharing of her knowledge and expertise. She has a real ability to impart her skills to others. I was genuinely surprised at what I was able to produce at the end of this one day course. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I loved every minute of the day. The course was brilliant and I've learnt a new craft. The dog I made is amazing and everyone else made brilliant teddies, dogs and rabbits. Loved the lunch, the venue and Sophie, and her mum! I want to book again as it us a great day out of the daily grind.
This is the second workshop I have attended. Sophie as ever was warm and welcoming. The class was informative and relaxed with patient help at hand when needed. The setting is beautiful and we'll equipped. Both days have been fantastic and I left with pets to be proud of. I cannot recommend the workshops more highly. In fact I have booked for another class and am taking friends with me.
HIGHLY RECOMMEMDED COURSE
Thank-you Sophie for an amazing felting workshop. We had a great day making beautiful little bears. Lunch was delicious although quite naughty. Please thank the gorgeous caterer for her desert recipe & for watching over my baby boy when she had a spare minute. He loved strolling through your gardens and was smiling for hours after his time with her.
Overall this course was very well instructed, took place in beautiful surroundings and was an absolute pleasure to attend. Thank-you for a wonderful day & for bringing much sunshine to our hearts. One final note, I never write reviews (good or bad) but I had such a lovely day that I felt I should.
An absolutely fantastic day. I really can't fault anything about this course.
Sophie is a warm, generous and knowledgeable instructor and makes the whole day work really well. The venue is beautiful, the lunch was really delicious, but above all Sophie's teaching style was supportive, fun and enthusiastic. Her communication before the course was excellent and I knew exactly what to expect on the day.
Just book... go on... do it. You really won't regret it.
I went on Sophie's needle felting course with my sister and a good friend. We had become interested in needle felting and had previously had a go at making dogs, but when I saw Sophie's felt dogs on line I just fell in love with them and wanted to know how to felt properly. We travelled a long way for the day from Surrey but it was well worth the trek. We spent a very informative day with Sophie who gave us tips and great techniques on how to make the perfect dog. Throughout the day there were plenty of refreshments and halfway through the day we stopped for the most wonderful lunch beautifully prepared by Sophie's mum. I found the course inspirational and would certainly recommend it to anyone wishing to learn the craft of felting.
I took my mother along for a day of crafting and had a wonderful time! Sophie was a great host (ably assisted by her mother in the kitchen) as well as being a knowledgeable, patient and informative tutor. Sophie was happy to accommodate our varied ideas and supported each delegate to explore the world of felting through our individual projects. We came away with an eclectic mixture of canine characters and all totally hooked on felting! Sophie sent us all a really helpful guide to purchasing our own resources as a follow up to the course.
I would thoroughly recommend one of Sophie's courses; a lovely way to spend a day.
We had a lovely day, Sophie was a brilliant, patient and enthusiastic teacher! We all learnt so much and came home with our doggies! The lunch was gorgeous and the course was held in a beautiful setting!
I attended Sophie's Needle Felt a Dog day with a friend and had an absolutely brilliant time, coming home with a competed dog, much to surprise! Sophie was so lovely - enthusiastic, encouraging and patient. The lunch laid on was beautiful and Sophie and her Mum went out of their way to ensure all dietary requirements were catered for. A fantastic day, I will definitely go back for further courses!
I took my mother- and sister-in law as a gift to a dog felting workshop - we all had a fantastic time and were thoroughly spoilt with delicious cakes and lunch. I have a gluten intolerance and Sophie was very thoughtful and catered to my needs which was really appreciated.
The craft course was excellent - having no previous experience I found it hard to believe by the end of the day I would have my own hand made needle felt dog, but Sophie's teaching and patience meant the whole group progressed and were able to finish their project.
Sophie was very enthusiastic and the course, setting and food were all exceptional.
I attended Sophie,s needle felting course with no knowledge of the craft and by the end of the day came home with a wonderful little dog. It was a amazing standard considering I had never done this before. This was thanks to Sophie excellent teaching ,she explained, demonstrated and help us all through out the day. We were served the most delicious home made soup for our lunch, followed by an scrumptious fruit 'crumble made by Sophie's mother, with drinks and biscuits freely available throughout the day. Sophie is an excellent teacher, the course was fun, informative I would highly recommend this course.
I went on one of Sophie's 'make a dog' courses with my mum and sister and absolutely loved it. Sophie is fabulous. Very patient, good humoured and kind.
Even with no experience what so ever a little fluffy dog still emerged for all three of us.
Her work is something to aspire to, she is simply a genius! I'll be ordering one of her designs too... she is able to capture a dogs character in seconds.
Loved the food too, thank you ladies.
I attended Sophie's needle felting course on how to make a small dog . I had some experience in needlefelting but learned some really great hints and tips on how to improve my technique. Sophie is an excellent teacher, the course was fun, informative (the food was also great!) I would highly recommend this course.
I recently attended Sophie's course and would highly recommend it to everyone. Sophie and her Mum are the most welcoming people I have met. Although a little daunted at first, Sophie guided us all from loose bits of wool through to finished individual dogs.
Sophie is an excellent teacher with an amazing amount of patience. She explains everything thoroughly and is always on hand in case you need a little extra guidance.
The lunch was amazing ...thank you and I would love to attend another workshop soon
I attended one of Sophie's learn to needle felt a dog courses with my mum and sister (great gift idea!) Id tried it a few times at home and my mum and sister were complete beginners but like to sew - we all came away with 3 very unique little dogs to an amazing standard considering our abilities!! A testament to sophies teaching... One of the things we loved was the freedom to create your own dog rather than being forced to make something you weren't onterested in. This makes you learn faster and care more- especially if you use a picture of your own dog.
Sophie goes above and beyond to her students from the pre course emails, her greeting, homemade food and drinks, the day itself then after the course she continues to be super helpful providing useful information about wool and suppliers.
The whole day on Saturday was fantastic! I can't fault it and would highly recommend that anyone should attend. So if your unsure... Trust me and go!
Sophie is a natural teacher, very open and not at all intimidating or hard selling her own commissions. I've learnt so much and think I've found myself a new exciting hobby. (I'm not usually crafty
My mum and I attended one of Sophie's courses one Saturday and all though i was nervous about going to start with as soon as you see the location and meet Sophie you instantly feel at ease. Sophie and her mother are easily two of the nicest people you could wish to meet and kept us all fed and watered with homemade hearty food and cups of coffee and tea while we felted and had a good laugh with the whole group, it really does feel like a day out with a group of friends. As well as this you gain the knowledge of the different wools and the skills in how to make these little dogs and before you know it your taking home a whole new hobby. I wouldn't hesitate for a second in recommending Sophie's courses and can not wait to do more myself!
My daughter and I attended one of Sophie's needle felting courses one Saturday and we had an absolutely wonderful day. Having had no experience of needle felting before, we came away feeling confident that we could give it a go as a hobby. The small dogs we made have price of place on display in our home! Sophie is an amazing teacher, as well as being one of the nicest people you could ever wish to meet, my daughter and I absolutely adored her. Sophie and her lovely mother kept us fed and watered throughout the day with home made goodies, the training room was the perfect setting and we met some truly lovely people. Sophie also gives very good advice on materials and her knowledge of the different types of wool was very useful. I would have no hesitation in recommending Sophie's courses to anyone wishing to have a go at this brilliant craft.
I went along to Sophie's dog-making workshop with no knowledge of needle felting whatsoever, and by the end of the day had created my own little collie-cross in miniature! This craft was an astonishing revelation - to be able to construct such a tiny, intricate model simply by rolling strands of natural wool into balls and stabbing them with needles! And yet, the painstaking care with which Sophie explained, demonstrated and helped us all individually, transformed this basic task into the most inspiring day I have had in years. She is an excellent teacher, patient and methodical, with enormous enthusiaism for her craft. All her materials are ethically sourced, and she provides detailed information about the sheep breeds and shades of wool. We were served the most delicious home made soup for our lunch, followed by an equally scrumptious fruit 'crumble made by Sophie's mother, with drinks and biscuits freely available throughout the day. All the arrangements and facilities were excellent, we were warmly welcomed on arrival and reluctant to leave at the end! I encourage anyone who has never considered this fascinating craft to spend a day with Sophie - your life will be transformed for ever!
