About the Course
Make the most out of the top-two video and animation editing programmes in one intensive course - for people with busy lives! Aimed at beginners or those wishing to improve their skills. Learn key techniques in Premiere Pro for the editing of video footage. Produce animations using the industry-standard digital compositing programme - After Effects. These programmes are great on their own but it is by combining their respective tools and functions that you will unleash your creative potential and develop your editing and compositing skills. The course provides a solid introduction to the two programmes. After completing this course you can continue honing your Adobe Software skills through our 'Adobe Pack' courses in Design, Publishing, Photography and Web Design. If you are not entitled to a reduced fee but are finding it difficult to pay for your course in one go, we can offer a Staged Payment Agreement to split the costs into three payments if your course(s) costs £200 or more.
Please talk to a member of enrolment staff about how your payments would be structured. You are liable for all payments under this agreement, even if you stop attending your class. As a student of Morley College you are also entitled to a discount on Adobe CC Software. Your tutor can advise you on how to apply for this.

Class format and activities
The class will be taught via a mix of presentation, active learning exercises, demonstrations, hand-outs, step-by-step instructions, pair working and group discussion. One-to-one tuition will be given to help develop ideas and skills. Manageable project work will sometimes be assigned between classes to help you progress. The classes are informal and allow for question and answer sessions, technical advice and support depending on your needs, and assessment and feedback on your progress. Some use of web-based presentation tools will be encouraged. Learning will be supported by course hand-outs, and the tutor will provide links to online resources
In order to ensure that you make the best possible progress on your course, you will have regular feedback from your tutor, in a constructive and supportive environment.
A keen interest in the subject is key to your success and the ability to attend the sessions regularly to get the most out of the course. As part of the course you will be asked to read tutorials, take notes, listen to instructions and discuss related topics, therefore students should have a reasonable level of skill in speaking, reading and writing in English. This course can be taken alongside with any of our digital design, film and photography courses and will help you to gain the confidence you need when working with digital tools for design and publication.
What you need to know before you enrol
The Course will be taught on Apple Mac computers in a bright, comfortable modern studio. It would be helpful if you have some familiarity with Macintosh computers and know how to use standard menus and commands, however this is not an essential requirement as these skills can be picked up during the course. As part of the course you will be asked to read tutorials, take notes, listen to instructions and discuss related topics, therefore students should have a reasonable level of skill in speaking, reading and writing in English. As this is a computer-based course you will be encouraged to be aware of fatigue and eye strain and take breaks when necessary. You may wish to revise and practise at home to reinforce what you have learned during the lesson. Information about computers and relevant software will be provided by the tutor. Many of the Art & Design studios have limited accessibility. What you will need for your class
It would be helpful for you to bring a pen, sketchbook and notepad, as you may wish to take notes and make initial designs. Also recommended is a storage device such as USB Memory Stick (minimum 8GB) or mini-hard drive. This is for storage of media during the course and of your work at the end. It would be beneficial to your studies if you possess the software for use at home. As a student of Morley College you are entitled to a discount on Adobe CC Software. Your tutor can advise you on how to apply for this.
