About the Course

Tutor: Annie Monk
Date & Time: Mon 9th Oct, 10am - 4pm
Venue: Bingham Studio, New Brewery Arts
REF: SW144-17
PRICE: £80 (£0.00 VAT)

Enjoy creating textured and impressionistic paintings by combining collage with palette knife work using acrylic paints and other media such as ink, pastels, or whatever else is in your tool kit! Annie will bring paintings which show this technique, and there will be plenty of reference material to give examples and inspiration, although if you have sketches/photos you wish to work on do bring them.

Although not suitable for the complete beginner all abilities welcome and individual help will be given throughout the day!

Annie began painting in 1989. Largely self-taught, she initially attended tutored classes and then progressed by experimental work in her home studio in order to develop her individual style. She has been tutoring workshops and courses since 2002. For some years Annie enjoyed painting with soft pastels, after which she began working with acrylics and found that their versatile properties were ideal for experimentation and a range of different techniques. She now works exclusively with acrylics and mixed media i.e. inks, oil pastels, collage. She paints quickly and instinctively, often from imagination, allowing her pictures to evolve. Annie is motivated by strong colour and believes her subject matter - landscape, seascape or still life - is secondary to colour, texture and design.
