Description

Six-week course 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th March & 1st April 2022
6.30-8pm on a Tuesday evening
Six places maximum
Price includes all materials & equipment except brushes. The price also includes Craft Courses' booking fee.

Suitable for confident beginners and anyone wanting to extend their existing art practise.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
You'll play with energy, colour and light to create dynamic woodland landscapes. Each week you'll work through the processes of a layered landscape working with large and small brushes and a palette knife, an array of paint textures, drips, and flicks, building a composition organically before working up your painting to a finished piece with confident colour work and mark making. Playing with technique is really important to stretching technical ability so you'll be encouraged to try new things and make mistakes as this is often where the magic is found.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO BRING
You’ll need to wear suitable clothing and bring a hand towel and refreshments. Please bring along a range of large brushes including a 1-2” decorators brush and something like Daler Rowney Graduate long filbert bristle brushes numbers 4 and 8. One or two softer round brushes may also be useful.

My studio is at The Queens Hall, Narberth, a charity events venue located in Pembrokeshire which welcomes a variety of events including art exhibitions and creative workshops. Low cost and well-managed parking can be found around the back. Narberth also has a range of shopping places to explore including many delicious eateries.

Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 2 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.

In-person course
Fiona - - #34875

Thoroughly enjoyed this - it gave me the confidence to experiment with acrylics using a much larger paintbrush than I'd have imagined using before, learning how to build up layers of paint with different brush strokes to create an acceptable picture. Louise is a very competent and capable teacher, she explains the process clearly from start to finish and is so inspiring! I'm really looking forward to another workshop!!

Response from Louise Burdett Artist:

Thank you so much Fiona - looking forward to seeing Thursday for our Human Face & Portraiture course. Always a pleasure x

I had a brilliant time and I learnt so much about the layering process. Louise was so helpful and welcoming and I really enjoyed meeting her and the other people at the workshop. Highly recommend her courses and I look forward to doing another in the future!

Response from Louise Burdett Artist:

Thanks so much Rosie. It was a pleasure to have you on the workshop and I will look forward to seeing you again and following your own artistic journey. x

In-person course
Maggie Bouchier - - #32860

The course was well run and we were very Covid safety conscious. Louis had made sure we all had a safe workspace to work in. We all produced an exceptable painting of South Beach Tenby and I for one learnt about using different colours for different effects. It was good value for money and interesting to see that although we all worked from the same painting the results were quite different

Response from Louise Burdett Artist:

Thanks so much Maggie - glad you enjoyed the colour work and the workshop in general. Hope to see you again soon. x

In-person course
Tina Smith - - #32858

Louise had gone to great lengths to ensure a safe environment with ample space and fresh air.
The course itself was very well run; with small class numbers I felt that we all had the attention that we needed, and it was great to see so many people produce complete paintings under Louise's tuition. Although we used her original painting to work from, each one had it's subtle differences.
Highly recommended.

Response from Louise Burdett Artist:

Thanks so much Tina - it was a pleasure to spend the day with you. Hope to see you again. x
